Broadcom provides a series of new HEVC chips to increase the variety of ultra-high-definition set-top boxes

Add new IP client, cable and satellite SoC to support the latest video compression standard

Beijing, September 23, 2013- Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: BRCM) , a global leader in innovative solutions for wired and wireless communications semiconductors, announced the launch of industry-leading new chips to help operators and original equipment manufacturers quickly introduce HD user hardware and content. These new set-top box (STB) devices are suitable for satellite, cable and IP TV, and can support the advanced high-efficiency video coding (HEVC) standard H.265. The new product can utilize the existing high-speed data network to provide the higher data throughput required for ultra-high-definition content.

As the price of ultra-high-definition TVs continues to fall, Broadcom's new chip series provides original equipment manufacturers and operators with more terminal options for ultra-high-definition / 4k content. These HEVC chips support Main10 mode and 60 frames / second UHD / 4K in architectural design, and aim to integrate the latest HDMI 2.0 digital TV interface standard as soon as possible. Utilizing Broadcom ’s advanced Trellis set-top box multi-application software framework and secure hardware sandbox, these new device platforms can accelerate the rapid integration of new services through intelligent system partitioning and management1.

Broadcom's new SoC chip series includes the BCM7251 for multi-HD / Ultra-HD IP set-top boxes and the BCM7366 equipped with live satellite full-band capture front-end receivers, as well as the two MoCA 2.0 set-top box system chips BCM7439 and BCM7376 for cable and satellite video gateways. BCM7438 can also be used as a HEVC MoCA 2.0 IP thin terminal solution for use with MoCA 2.0 video gateways. These new chip series use advanced 28-nanometer process technology. If used with Broadcom ’s flagship ultra-high-definition SoC BCM7445, it can achieve comprehensive device functions, including quad-core ARMv7 Brahma 15 transcoding gateway, dual-core MoCA client .

With Broadcom ’s comprehensive portfolio of HEVC equipment, operators can significantly reduce the bandwidth required for video transmission, provide more channels for IP, cable or satellite networks, and be managed or unmanaged equipment in more parts of the home To provide these services. If the bandwidth of the service provider is limited, for example, a telecommunications company or OTT provider that uses ADSL to configure video can use the HEVC set-top box gateway and / or client to choose a higher bandwidth efficiency technology to increase the number of video users2.

"Broadcom launched the world's first 4Kx2K TV home gateway chip BCM7445 in January this year, setting a precedent for ultra-high-definition technology." Said Rich Nelson, senior vice president of marketing for Broadcom Broadband Communications Group, "plus today's HEVC chip series products, Broadcom Once again demonstrated its determination to expand the HEVC product range and continue to support meeting customer needs, Broadcom will bring this technology to the market as soon as possible, especially as increasingly cheaper ultra-high-definition televisions attract consumers ’attention at this time."

Broadcom ’s new HEVC chip portfolio has high-performance dual-core Brahma15 10000 DMIPs ARMv7 processors, 2160p60 or dual 1080p60 decoding and transcoding capabilities, and also integrates high-performance connected peripherals such as USB 3.0, PCIe, Gigabit Ethernet and MoCA 2.0. All Broadcom devices are equipped with the latest generation of security kernels, providing the highest level of platform security, content protection and DRM stability. Industry-leading features also include support for high-speed DDR3 and DDR4 memory, as well as a series of dedicated interfaces for Broadcom front-end cable, DOCSIS, satellite, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi devices. The BCM7251 and CM7439 also include a new dual-display feature that uses the same set-top box to play two video channels simultaneously via separate HDMI outputs and remote control devices.

From September 12th to 16th, 2013, at the 2013 International Broadcasting Conference (IBC 2013) held at the RAI International Convention and Exhibition Center in Amsterdam, Broadcom will showcase the BCM7251, BCM7438, BCM7439 and BCM7366 SoC, booth number # 2.C36. DVB ultra-high-definition content real-time transmission will also showcase Broadcom's BCM7445 and BCM3461 products, booth number # 1.D81.

Data Sources:

1. If using a multi-screen configuration, the BCM7251, BCM7366, BCM7376, BCM7438, and BCM7439 support integrated hardware transcoding capabilities for mobile phones, tablets, and traditional STB devices. This allows H.265 content to be transcoded to traditional H.264, and can be used by traditional managed clients or unmanaged devices (such as tablets).

2. DVB.org reports: H.265 is 50% more efficient than H.264.

High-voltage 110~220KV XLPE Cable

A. Brief introduction of the 110~220KV XLPE high-voltage cable products

1. The cross-linkage PE insulated and wrinkled aluminum wrapper waterproof PVC Sheathed Power Cable.

Type: YJLW02/YJLLW02

Specification: 240mm²--300mm²

Voltage: 110--220KV

Usage: Suitable for damp areas and the places with a lower underground water level and to be used underground, in tunnels or pipes. Such cables bear a bigger pulling force and pressure.

B. Specific property for usage of 110KV~220KV XLPE high-voltage cable

1. Cable`s conductor highest working temperature is allowed up to 90℃, and overload when meet an emergency is 130℃ ,When short circuit (in ≤5 seconds) the highest temperature is 250℃

2. When installing or laying cable, the ambient temperature should be less than -20℃, and have to give a preheat to cable.

3. The minimum bending diameter:

After laying: 30D0

During laying: 40D0

4. Allowed biggest axial traction force to outer diameter when laying cable (not consider the radial lateral

pressure at bent section) T=K×core NO. ×section (kg), in formula, the coefficient K value should be: the copper core get 7, the aluminum core get 4.

5. Allowed biggest lateral-press P, when cable is being bent

The single core cable is required P≤500kg/m.

P=T/R (T is indicated axial traction force; R is indicated radius of bent-wheel), Knowing from above formula, as the traction force is made up by length and weight of cable. So it lets P to applying requirement as above. Then the diameter of bent-wheel should be widened.

6. Cable laying is not being restricted by drop.

Of course ,except 110~220KV XLPE Cable,we have 500kv XLPE Cable,230kv XLPE Cable, 750v Cable , 132kv Cable , 110kv Cable ect.
