Consumers expect the introduction of home appliance safety standards

According to the survey results of the “Safety of Appliances Usage Terms”, 81.82% of consumers expressed that they are looking forward to this policy as soon as possible. It is possible to popularize knowledge and to mitigate the harm caused by the use of over-age appliances. Only 18.18% of consumers did not expect this policy. These consumers seem to have become accustomed to the habit of “new three years, three years old, and repairing for another three years”.

Lu Jianguo, director of the comprehensive inspection department of the National Household Electrical Appliances Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, told reporters that as early as in 2009, more than 10 items of “Details on the Usage Age of Appliances” had already passed certification and were submitted for approval to the National Standardization Management Committee. However, the verification labeling can be formalized so far. The implementation of the release is still unknown, so consumers can't see the relevant logo at the store yet.

It is understood that the “General Requirements for the Safe Use of Life and Recycling of Household Appliances and Similar Electrical Appliances” (hereinafter referred to as “General Regulations”) issued by the National Standardization Administration Committee has been implemented since May 1, 2008. The “General Regulations” are recommendations. The standard only puts forward the labeling principles and framework for the safe use of household appliances, and recommends that manufacturers mark the period of safe use of their home appliances. Due to the different functional structures of various electrical appliances, it is necessary to consider specific labeling methods and accounting methods for the safe service life of different types of home appliances under the average usage intensity of ordinary households. However, until now, only the use of gas appliances has been stipulated in its technical standards, and other products have not yet been introduced.

Lu Jianguo said that the safe use of household electrical appliances has a close relationship with the materials and design factors used by enterprises to produce their products. Therefore, the introduction of the rules as soon as possible will not only help consumers select products according to their own needs, but also at the same time. Because companies need to be responsible for security incidents that occur within their stated security deadlines, they can effectively curb the industry's actions of cutting costs and shoddy work, reducing costs and competing at low prices.

Related professionals in the industry also stated that in the current situation, in order to ensure the safety of users, companies should take the initiative to prompt consumers to conduct regular maintenance of electrical appliances. At the same time, it also reminds consumers that from a safety point of view, there should be one more safety string in their hearts, and they should take the initiative to conduct regular safety inspections on household appliances such as gas appliances and electric water heaters, and timely replace old products.
