Gooee Announces World's First Enterprise-Class IoT Gateway Using Lighting Sensing

Gooee, an intelligent lighting ecosystem provider that connects OEMs to the Internet of Things, has developed a multi-protocol enterprise-class IoT gateway in Silicon Valley that connects cloud platforms through lighting and sensing devices.

The gateway supports a variety of communication protocols including Bluetooth, ZigBee, WiFi, Ethernet and serial ports, featuring cloud-integrated systems. This allows the gateway to maximize the variety of interoperability options and other cloud-based services.

Since there is no IoT control or gateway to fully demonstrate the connectivity of the lighting ecosystem, Gooee designed the gateway to improve the reliability, connectivity and interoperability of the lighting system.

Gooee CTO Simon Coombes said: "In the early stages of the ecosystem development, we plan to work with existing gateway devices, but we found that nothing can be found to support our platform to operate efficiently and reliably."

In addition, the gateway features ARM-based processors and a native application security container that allows third-party service integration. The gateway also supports Gooee's Bluetooth network, which is designed to handle the bandwidth required for application data between lighting and sensing points through Gooee's recently released sensing ASI.

To complement the new technology, Gooee created a standalone device called "Puck" to expand the range and number of terminals supported by the gateway. Puck is a Power over Ethernet Bluetooth extender that runs the Mesh protocol. It works with the gateway to extend the range of devices and increase the number of terminals in the terminal.

"To ensure that we can handle a wide and critical environment, having offline functionality, a local security API, and a distributed multi-gateway environment means we can provide users with better performance than the costly hardware." SimonCoombes Added.

In addition, Simon Coombes also said: “Many central control and gateway manufacturers claim that their devices can support thousands of terminals in certain situations. This may result in a limited number of controls and the ability to turn on or off the fixtures in groups. Gooee handles a single terminal control and a wide range of sensor networks that generate large amounts of environmental and energy data. Simply put, our gateways are designed for enterprise-scale applications.
