In the first half of this year, sales of new energy-saving lamps in Taiwan have soared in the first half of this year, driven by the Beijing Olympics and high energy prices. Taiwan's light-emitting diode (LED) manufacturers announced that their sales in the first half of this year increased by 16.1% over the same period last year.
According to data provided by various companies to the Taiwan Stock Exchange, sales of these companies in the first half of 2008 increased from NT$20.8 billion in the same period last year to NT$24.2 billion (US$771.3 million).
