It is understood that because Yushu Power Grid mainly relies on local hydroelectric power supply and it has a small amount of water in winter, it is difficult to meet the demand for power supply, and abundant solar energy resources just became the power for Yushu Power Development. The “Golden Sun” hydro-optical complementary microgrid power generation project in Yushu Prefecture, which started in mid-June this year, is the use of solar power to be integrated into the hydroelectric power grid to form a beneficial complement. This project is the national "Golden Sun" demonstration project, and is the first MW-level hydro-optic complementary micro-grid power station in China. It is also the largest hydropower and photovoltaic complementary micro-grid power station at present in China. The total investment of the power station reaches more than 120 million yuan. The water-solar complementary operation mode means that the photovoltaic power station and the hydropower station are operated in different periods and sub-periods to complement each other. This model is the first example in the country. The project construction includes 17 kilometers of battery rooms, ancillary buildings, and outgoing lines, more than 8,700 solar panels, more than 8,200 batteries, and 2,000 kilowatts per day for Yushu Prefecture.
