LED deep into homogenization competition mud how to unify LED lighting standards

For a long time, the LED lighting market has been accused of disorderly competition. Due to the lack of upstream core technology, this young emerging market is deeply immersed in homogenization and competition. "The big factory can produce, and then fight the price." This is the helpless voice of a listed company's technical staff.

LED lamp standard
In the past few months, the increase in the standards of imported products from the European Union and the United States has added to the glory of the LED lighting industry, which means that the export route of more than 8,000 LED companies nationwide will be more difficult. Competing domestically, big manufacturers can't beat the price of small factories, and small factories will soon die; competing abroad, products are not up to standard, causing exports to be blocked, and the market is difficult to collect.

In this context, the establishment and standardization of "standards" began to be "called" by more people. At the same time, the government is making efforts. Last month, the “Guangdong Province LED Benchmarking System Recommended Product Catalogue” was released, which shows that the industry is calling for a more orderly and healthy market.

Recently, the reporter conducted an exclusive interview with Mr. Guan Junchao, Director of SGS China Consumer Electronics Division at the “Shenzhen Lighting New Standard Analysis Seminar” to bring you the latest interpretation of LED lighting standards.

Detecting "new" features
The reporter learned that for the LED lighting principle, the detection requirements for overload status and photobiosafety are particularly strict, which is also the difference between incandescent lamps and energy-saving lamps. The detection of LED luminaires must be considered in terms of safety, performance and energy efficiency.

In theory, LEDs can achieve a lifetime of up to 50,000 hours, while incandescent lamps are only 1500 hours. However, the LED lamps sold on the market are not good enough. Many consumers have changed the lamps to LED products at a high price. Not only do they not expect to be efficient and energy-saving, on the contrary, they often appear in less than a few weeks without illuminating or stroboscopic.

Guan Junchao told reporters that these are all negative examples of quality. Each test has corresponding content and indicators, strict implementation, product quality will be greatly improved: "Only one energy efficiency test, including light efficiency, energy efficiency index, 6000 hours residual rate, 6000 hours lumen maintenance rate, The number of switching cycles before the end of life, start-up time, warm-up time, premature damage rate, color rendering index, color stability, power factor, etc., not to mention other test items. These must be strictly monitored to ensure lighting Conformity."

Environmental "new" requirements
Last month, the recovery of energy-saving lamps was difficult to “sequel” and was exploded on a large scale. Based on this, the environmental performance of LEDs was again raised. Because of the different principles of luminescence, LEDs do not cause mercury pollution, but it does not contain other harmful substances, but it is difficult to say. Will it take the old road of energy-saving lamps and have to check it out.

Guan Junchao said: "In Europe, the WEEE Directive and the RoHS Directive have been mandatory to test the discarded electronic products and the toxic substances they contain. On July 1, 2011, the EU issued a new version of the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU. It was enforced on January 3, 2013. The WEEE Directive also issued a new version on July 4, 2012, and was enforced on February 14, 2014."

This means that if China's LED lamps are to be exported, they must meet the technical indicators of these two aspects. And this will not only be an international requirement. With the development of the LED lighting market, domestically, there will be similar requirements for LED lighting products in environmental protection.

Sense of detection is uneven
At this stage, China's LED lighting inspection is divided into mandatory and voluntary according to the category of the lamp itself and the regulations of different regions.

After interviewing a number of LED business stakeholders, the reporter found that many LED lighting companies will voluntarily strictly implement non-mandatory testing. In their view, although this will increase part of the cost, it is more conducive to gaining consumer trust and is more conducive to entering the international market.

What is the situation of enterprises participating in the test? Guan Junchao said that the detection consciousness of enterprises is uneven. Relatively speaking, large-scale enterprises and well-known enterprises pay more attention to detection and quality improvement.

When talking about the problems in the inspection and the expectations of the company, Guan Junchao said: "Customers generally have a headache for the unqualified problems in the testing process, and the rectification reaction is slow, so the whole testing process will be prolonged. I hope the company can Pay attention to the training of professional testing talents, better cooperate with the testing institutions, so as to complete the test efficiently and quickly, and obtain more and larger business opportunities."

How to unify standards
Today, although there are more than 8,000 LED companies nationwide, more than half of them do not have their own core technologies. And many LED manufacturers' upstream, middle and downstream products have not been integrated. If it is detected, the imported and domestic mixed together, the "parts" produced by different manufacturers are mixed together, will the standard be unreasonable?

Guan Junchao said, “If it is based on standard testing, the difference between standards will not be too big. Because the testing standards in most regions follow the IEC standard system. North America has its own standards, but some projects of IEC standards will also be adopted. , or many test items are the same as the IEC standard, so the test items and methods are similar."

In addition, the lack of core technology of LED lamps has directly led to the price increase. Today, LED companies have not yet entered the civilian market on a large scale. In the "commercial" and "civil" areas, will LED lighting inspections be different?

Guan Junchao explained, “The inspection standard is divided according to the specific use occasion and installation method of the product, and is not divided by commercial and civilian. For example, an embedded LED downlight, the standard used is IEC 60598-2-2, if You use it in a shopping mall or factory floor. It is commercial. It is used for civilian use in residential homes, but the testing standards are exactly the same."
