Sony Toshiba denies reaching a semiconductor transfer transaction

In response to media reports that Sony is preparing to transfer its semiconductor business to Toshiba, Sony and Toshiba said on Tuesday that they have not yet reached a so-called transfer transaction.

A Sony spokesperson said they are looking for ways to boost the semiconductor business, but Sony has not yet decided whether to transfer its semiconductor business to other companies.

Toshiba spokesperson Omori also said that there is no similar transaction with Sony.

Last weekend, the media reported that Sony is negotiating with Toshiba. Sony is expected to transfer the chip business to Toshiba for $900 million. Sony's future chips will be outsourced to other manufacturers.

After the news came out, investors worried that Sony's transfer of semiconductor business will suffer, Sony shares fell on Tuesday, and Toshiba also fell slightly.

The industry generally believes that Sony's semiconductor business performance is not good, and the Cell processor is not "out of the head". The processor was jointly developed by Toshiba, Sony and IBM. It is currently used mainly for PS3 game consoles and some of IBM's servers. The previous three companies have high hopes for this powerful chip product.
