Through centralized control of the distributed data layer, the control layer can ensure the consistent service delivery process of the entire wireless LAN and strict QOS and security policy implementation, thus avoiding the defects of the central wireless LAN switch.

With the deployment and expansion of wireless LANs, MSM700 and access points can automatically discover each other and establish a secure layer 3 communication tunnel for exchanging wireless LAN control information.
In terms of supporting real-time mobility, regardless of whether the access points are in the same IP subnet, the MSM700 can ensure that wireless devices switch quickly and smoothly when roaming between access points. MSM700 knows its neighboring MSM access points, so it can predict the handover target. The pre-shared PMK cache enables WPA2 / 802.1x to re-associate within 50 milliseconds, keeping QoS and security policies unchanged while users roam.
Management layer Management layer supports typical troubleshooting, configuration, statistics and high-performance functions of large networks composed of multiple MSM700 and MSM access points.
Network edge intelligence The main advantage of the HP ProCurve MSM wireless LAN solution is the improvement of the wireless networking of the previous generation of wireless thin APs, and the development of intelligent APs that can be centrally managed.
The architecture integrates wireless local area network traffic into a wired network, and uses DDF to distribute traffic through intelligent access points at the edge of the network. This allows traffic to pass through most directly connected paths (without going through the controller), and optimizes the use of high-cost backbone links with higher costs.
Another major advantage of this architecture is that it can ensure that the traffic of the wireless voice system (VoWIFI) will not be delayed because it is sent back to the wireless LAN controller, but is sent directly to the voice server, which can improve the quality of voice calls.
