Osram launches high temperature resistant Oslon Square LED

OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has announced the launch of an LED that is particularly resistant to high ambient temperatures, Oslon Square. To ensure that several LEDs in the fixture maintain color consistency at high temperatures, these LEDs measure and separate at 85 °C, which is very close to the temperature common in lighting applications in buildings from spotlights to energy-saving light sources. .

According to OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, excessive heat generation is one of the main causes of LED failure. As a result, OSRAM has adjusted the heat dissipation of Oslon Square to its optimum state, allowing it to withstand higher junction temperatures.

Ivar Tangring, Solid State Lighting Product Development at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors in Germany, said, "Using our new conversion technology, we can produce a thinner conversion layer. The thinner the conversion layer, the better the heat dissipation, so the LED can withstand higher temperatures. With this, Oslon Square can significantly extend the life of the product, even if the temperature inside the LED is as high as 135 ° C, the use time can be up to 50,000 hours.

For customers who need to further process LEDs into lighting fixtures, measurement and sorting at a working temperature of 85 °C is of great significance. They need accurate parameter information such as luminous flux or color stability to properly define the characteristics of their products.

In addition, the higher temperature resistance allows this LED to improve the luminous efficiency in the application system. Tangring emphasizes: “Luminous efficiency refers to the ratio of luminous flux to power consumption. High luminous efficiency can help our customers to significantly increase the price/performance ratio of their own lighting solutions.” Because of the junction temperature that can be withstood High, the need to use large heat sinks is reduced, which simplifies the design of the luminaire and lighting system, so that the design can be made smaller and more cost-effective.

Oslon Square is especially suitable for a wide range of indoor lighting applications. Its color temperature ranges from 2,400 to 5,000 K, producing warm white or cool white light. Its color rendering index is over 80, and the brightness reaches 202 lm, which makes people's eyes shine. This LED will be available in different versions with different color temperatures and a higher color rendering index.

Currently, this new LED is undergoing multiple quality tests: Validation of the LM-80 longevity standard is underway and 6,000 hours of testing is expected by the spring of 2014.

Multi-Layer Circuit boards. In order to increase the area that can be wired, the multilayer board uses more single or double-sided wiring boards. Using a double-sided inner layer and two single-sided outer layers, the printed circuit board which is alternately arranged by the positioning system and the insulating bonding material and the conductive pattern is interconnected according to design requirements becomes four layers, similiar stack up for 6 layer, 8 layers etc. The layers are more than two called multiple layers printed circuit board. The number of layers of the board does not mean that there are several layers of independent wiring layers. In special cases, empty layers are added to control the thickness of the board. Usually the number of layers is even and the outermost two layers are included.
