Maxim introduced the SFP + video controller DS1876 with dual laser diode driver (LDD) interface. The device controls and monitors all sending functions of the SFP + optical module, which fully meets the SFF-8472 standard. The DS1876 controls two laser drivers and can support SDI digital video and other optical module video applications with low-cost modules. This solution provides all the control and monitoring functions required by the user in a single chip, thereby saving the cost of two microcontrollers and complex software development. The automatic power control (APC) and laser modulation functions are controlled by four temperature-based look-up tables (LUT). The look-up table has a 10-bit Σ-Δ DAC output, and each output has an independent LUT with 72 data. The DS1876 monitors 6 analog channels: temperature, VCC, transmit power and bias current of each of the two laser drivers. The device also provides an I²C compatible interface for connecting to the host system. The DS1876 operates from -40 ° C to + 95 ° C and is available in a 5mm x 5mm, 28-pin TQFN package.
