DIALOG pushes the latest series of DSP audio codecs DA7322 and DA7323

Beijing, China, September 18, 2014 – Dialog Semiconductor, Inc. (Frankfurt stock code: DLG), a provider of highly integrated power management, AC/DC, solid state lighting and Bluetooth® smart wireless technology, today announced two new audio DSPs Codecs (DSP CODEC): DA7322 and DA7323, respectively aimed at products with up to 4 analog and digital microphones.

These products not only feature the most advanced digital signal processor (DSP) capabilities, but also consume very little power, and are designed for voice applications in next-generation tablets, wearables, webcam accessories, and in-car entertainment systems.

The new audio codec includes a 24-bit DSP with an advanced speech engine package that uses multi-channel beamforming, noise suppression and echo cancellation to achieve a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of over 35db. The result is significantly enhanced call performance and sound quality for VoIP and speech recognition applications, especially for end users who need to use smart devices more and more in noisy environments.

Udo Kratz, senior vice president and general manager of the Mobile Systems Group at Dialog Semiconductor, said: "The demand for voice quality is increasing. These new audio codecs are eliminated when consumers use SkypeTM or LyncTM VoIP calls. The DA7322 and DA7323 have built-in low-power sound controllers designed for wearable devices. They support more than a dozen keywords with an accuracy rate of 95% and do not cause false alarms in noisy environments. This feature is reflected in Sensory's TrulyHandsFreeTM always-on voice control and recognition software. The software features voice-activated search, user-defined voice commands, speaker verification and identification, and multi-language support.

The beamforming technology used in the DA7322 and DA7323 speech engine packages is designed to provide maximum flexibility in the placement of the microphone to support both end-fire and multi-MIC configurations. The beamforming algorithm is also capable of rejecting a variety of fixed and non-stationary noise sources.

The embedded DSP engine package includes a full set of audio enhancement effects "SmartEffects" such as multi-band equalization and stereo expansion. In addition, it includes a psychoacoustic bass boost; users can enhance the low frequency response by enabling this feature for playback on low cost speakers; at the same time, dynamic range control and volume adjustment enable higher and consistent volume.

The advanced accessory detection features in these codecs support three-pole and four-pole jack detection, so the type of headset used is automatically detected and no external adapter is required. The DA7322 can support 4 analog microphones, and the DA7323 can support 3 analog microphones or 2 pairs of stereo digital microphones.

The Dialog DA7322 and DA7323 are available in a 66-bump WL-CSP package and are available now in volume.
