Toshiba expands its lineup of wearable device application processors

Toshiba today announced the addition of new members to its TZ1000 Series ApP LiteTM Wearable Device Application Processor. The new device "TZ1021MBG" integrates a processor and flash memory, and does not carry the Bluetooth® Low Energy and accelerometer integrated by Toshiba's previously launched "TZ1001MBG", so it is smaller and lighter. Wear the device. Sample shipments will be launched this month and volume production is scheduled to start in March 2015. "TZ1021MBG" will debut at the 2014 International Electronic Components Expo 2014 (Electronica 2014), which opened on November 11th.

Services for monitoring activity and duration of activity are used as tools to help prevent lifestyle diseases, promote exercise, and improve nutrition, and interest in such services has been exploding. This interest increases the demand for wearable devices on which such services depend.

Toshiba's new application processor integrates a high-sensitivity analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that is ideal for weak biomedical signals such as pulse and ECG activities such as electrocardiograms. The processor also features an original low-power design for wearable devices that require longer battery life.

Toshiba is expanding its TZ1000 series by adding features to its basic "TZ1001MBG": "TZ1031MBG" adds a gyroscope, "TZ1011MBG" adds a gyroscope and a magnetometer.

Main characteristics

· Built-in ARM® Cortex®-M4F processor

The high-performance ARM® Cortex®-M4F with digital signal processor (DSP) and floating-point processing unit combines data from multiple internal and external sensors for improved accuracy (sensor fusion).

·High sensitivity ADC

The new product incorporates a high-sensitivity ADC that converts weak signals from external sensors such as pulse and ECG activity into digital data and provides this data to the built-in processor.

application

Wearable devices such as activity monitors, smart watches, bracelets, and eyewear
